I’m making a 2D tidal model that is comprised of two 2D flow areas connected by a set of box culverts (using a SA/2D Connection). These culverts have movable flap-gates such that the bottom section of the culvert is always open and the top section of the culvert will only pass flow in one direction. In the connection data editor there are no options for a mixture of flapped and un-flapped structures. Is there a nice way to make this kind of structure in HecRas?
That’s going to be tricky with the built in functionality of RAS. In short, there’s no direct way to do this. However, if you can develop rating curves for the gate/culvert combos, then you can use the Rules boundary condition to do this (I think). Will require some scripting on your part.
