Changing bank geometry in Hec-ras 2s

I am working on a project of urban flooding and want to investigate how to design urban space for flooding where the streets are considered rivers and the curb river banks. I have a raster DEM of the area, and want to change features such as curb height and pedestrians crossing, to model the effect on flow.

Do i need to change my actual terrain model in arcmap, or can i add objects and change cross-sections directly in hec-ras?
