I’m currently working with Hec-Ras. First time for me. I’ve design a model of two-stage ditch and a want two calculate the cross-section area of this ditch. The result will be compared with the original ditch-area to calculate the volume of soil that need to be moved to creadte the two-stage ditch.
– Can anybody tell med how to calculate/plot the full cross section area or the storage volume of the channel in Hec-Ras.
Given that you have already built the basic RAS geometric data with the stream centerline and cross sections; the geometric properties of the cross sections can be calculated by running the Geomety Preprocessor. This is done from the Unsteady Flow Analysis button on the main screen menu (you don’t need any other data). Then the hydraulic properties (like area, conveyance, etc.) for every section can be viewed via graphs and tables with the Hydraulic Tables button on the main menu.
