I am modeling a river where there is an existing bridge.
Two new bridges are expected to be installed, one upstream and other downstream of the existing bridge (See the figure, the circles represent the piers). The piers of the new bridges will be out of alignment with the piers of the old bridge.
I have only cross sections of downstream and upstream of the old bridge, and these cross sections have different sizes and different starting points.
What is the best way to assess the condition of out of alignment of piers? Something very simplified is needed due to the deadline. In a steady-flow and 1D, how best to represent this?
