I am working with a model that has bridges in a 2D flow area. The bridge I am interested in crosses a stream at an angle. The bridge piers are offset, upstream to downstream, to match this angle. The bridge physically directs water toward the right bank as the stream meanders left.
To my understanding, modeled flow under the bridge is just a function of headwater and tailwater. Is the modeled direction of flow – its momentum – preserved, or does the flow simply fill the corresponding cell on the downstream side of the bridge?
