I setup geometry entirely as 2D. the dam to fail is modeled as SA/SD connection. I have a 30″ CMP spillway pipe as the primary. no emergency channel currently. When trying to run the “Failure case”
error: Connections using culverts cannot be breached. Only connections with weirs and gates can be breached.
I put in an artificial gate and it runs. How could I put in a realistic outflow hydrograph from the dam? Note: I ran the overflow computation method as “Normal 2D Equation Domain”.

Make lake within the 2D upper reach has bottom of lake contours. in order the the pool elevation to be raised to the correct initial elevation, I had to use 2D options, and set initial time at 7 hours. that allowed the model have water stored inside the lake at the start of the run. Does that make sense? or is there a better method to flood the lake to normal pool level using only 2D terrain?
