We have a model where we have an inline dam/embankment. It has a complicated outlet structure so the structure was rated external to the program and then we entered a rating curve on the cross-section across the dam or just upstream of the dam. We made sure that there was a low point in the cross-section lower than the rating curve by utilizing a very small pilot channel.
When we ran the model, there were several locations where we utilized rating curves but the results did not reflect the rating curve values.
Any ideas why? Are there any caveats to using rating curves…at flow change locations, at face of structures, etc?
