    Hello,

I would like to add a concrete path on the side of the river, to an existing HEC-RAS file. The path will be located on the river bank, and when there’s a bridge, would go either below or above the bridge. I’m assuming that this path could be represented by a ‘Lateral Structure’ in HEC-RAS-is this correct?

What should be specified under ‘HW RS’ in the ‘Lateral Structure Editor’? Since my path will be along the entire river reach, and will pass through multiple river stations, how can I enter a river station for it? Also, what will be the ‘Type’ of ‘Tailwater Connection’? And do I need to set a ‘Storage Area’?

    Thanks in advance!

I actually would not use a lateral weir. If this concrete sidewalk is to be much higher than the channel, i would build the sidewalk into the existing geometry and give it a mannings value of 0.013. I May even add a levy at the edge of this sidewalk in the case where a stream has many curves and actual overflow would be occuring.
