I have a full 2D HEC-RAS model that i’m trying to calibrate. Let me state that there is NO 1D component to this model, no cross sections, no reach, full 2d mesh and boundary conditions and nothing else.

Is it possible to calibrate this in HEC-RAS? Upon reading the manual, i’ve come to the conclusion that the only way to add observation data to the model is to add a reach and cross sections. I can’t upload a DSS file without a cross section location. I was hoping there was a way I could just drop observation points into the 2d mesh but I don’t see a way to do that. Currently what i’m doing is exporting data from profile sections using RAS MAPPER and comparing to observed data outside of HECRAS. The model is pretty accurate, but it just seems strange that there’s this auto calibration feature that I can’t make use of unless I have a combination 1D/2D model.

    Thanks in advance.
