2D area Mann’s region

Hello i have a problem with Hec-Ras function named in title. When i create polygon/area i get this msg:

Not shure if picture is uploaded. But msg is :

Associated layer : not yet associated with this geometry.
Therefore i can’t eddit area or asign different manings N. Please does anyone know how to fix this problem ?

Have you imported / created a land cover map in ras mapper? The 2d polygon can only be used with a land cover map that is already imported. It overwrites the base values.

Check page 3-21 of the HEC RAS 2D users manual.

Thank you for your answer, so what i need to do is create polygons in another software ? When i hit to create new layer i can only import things.

A “cheat” is to draw a storage area that covers your geometry and then go into mapper, right click on the storage area layer and export to shapefile. Now you have a shapefile that you can import as a landcover. This will let you use the regions tool. You can draw multiple SA for differing land classes if you wish.

Great “cheat”! Being in MT we do not have land cover data sets that are useful for the models I have been working on and this has been an ongoing issue; that was just solved.
