    Greetings,

I have a large 1D model with tidal influenced downstream stage boundary conditions. My 1D only version works well, however, when introducing a 2D flow area in the center of my model (channel and floodplain) the initial backwater process will not advance. I have used the initial conditions from my 1D version to start the 1D/2D model, but to no success. Does anyone have any suggestions, or further insight to the 1D/2D initial conditions/backwater calculations?

    Thanks in advance.

Also of note, there are two downstream boundaries in the 2D area. When I remove all the river connections on one downstream boundary and use a normal depth, the model runs.

The trick to getting the full 1d/2d model to run was to define the initial conditions at more locations than was needed for the 1D model. I pulled the initial flow from the fully 1d run and set the initial conditions at the upstream and downstream end of each reach, plus other locations of importance.
