1D Unsteady model validity if it crashes after peak flow and water level

Greetings!
Me and my colleague have been modelling av river for a railway project with input from a hydrograph and often the model becomes unstable in the end of the run, some time after the peak flow and peak water level.
My question is:
Is my peak water level still valid or, because of the problem with unstability in the end of the model run, the results from the whole model are invalid?

Completely invalid. When a model fails that late in the run i look at where its failing first for adjustments. Then adjust the time step
