    Hi Everyone,

I am trying to tie a 1d reach to two different 2d domains on both its ends. The model runs really well if I don’t tie 2d domain to the downstream end of the 1d reach. However, when I tie it to 2d domains on both ends I get the error with program: Rasunsteady.exe error. I am adding link to the model so it would be easier to see the problem.

    Link to the model: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tj922d88s5711ms/Hydraulics.zip?dl=0

    Any help is much appreciated!

    Kind Regards,

Without taking a look at the model, my first guess would be that the 1D reach is getting dewatered where it drains into the downstream 2D domain. Since the discharge from 1D to 2D would be at the high end of the 2D domain, the last cross-sections of the 1D reach may be draining very quickly into an empty channel, or lower water surface elevation. Set the output interval match the computational timestep (or to its minimum), and see if it runs even briefly. The downstream end of the 1D reach can dewater in the first time step, causing instability. Adjust the timestep, and consider adding cross-sections.

The upstream and downstream end of a single reach is not allowed to be connected to the same 2D domain in 5.0.7. This was fixed in version 6.0 see RAS release notes #13 for “Problems Repaired for Version 6.0”

1D Reach connected to same 2D Area (upstream and downstream). If you had a 1D river reach directly connected to the same 2D Flow Area, both at the upstream end and downstream end, the program was getting confused on what to set for the initial conditions.
