which is the best way to model high backwater effect in 1D model?
I have a river (2700 m3/s peak flow) flowing in a larger river (7000 m3/s) and when both rivers have high flows, the first one can’t flow in the second due to backwater effect. I know the WSE of the main river right on the confluence and the discharge flow of the tributary. Using the Known WSE as downstream boundary condition the model hardly underestes the stage levels of the tributary (the profile is almost horizontal).
