HEC-RAS 5.0.5 has been released!

Written by Chris Goodell | June 13, 2018

HEC has released a new version of HEC-RAS called version 5.0.5 today.  This version is a bug fix only version (i.e. No new features).  Unfortunately in version 5.0.4 there was a bug in which User defined Manning’s n value override regions for 2D Flow Areas (called “2D Area Manning’s n Regions”), define in the Geometry editor, were not being applied to the 2D Faces.  So user’s would be unaware that they were not getting modified Manning’s n values for these override regions.  As this is a bad computational error, anyone that was using Manning’s n override regions defined in the Geometry editor, should rerun their models with this new release of HEC-RAS 5.0.5.
In addition to that bug, several other minor bugs were also fixed.  Please review the Version 5.0.5 Release Notes to see all of the bugs that were fixed for this release.

Hi Chris, can you comment as to how applicable your "Breaking the HEC-RAS Code" book and your discussion of the HECRASController is for 2D modelling under HEC-RAS 5.0+? Does the book include discussion of 2D modelling?

    two questions:

    1. Is there a way to snap an existing vertex point when drawing a new line/polygon in RAS Mapper? or to type in x/y coordinates?

    2. Can RAS mapper generate a series of XS cutlines automatically?

    Thanks

In every model I've worked on so far in RAS 5.0.5 the data export functions (max depth tiffs, geometry shapefiles) generate errors or empty shapefiles. Anyone else encountering this problem?

I'm glad to hear the release of HEC-RAS5.05.
As a beginner of RAS, I have a simple question:
I built a whole 2D area. And there is a small reservoir inside the 2D area. How can I delinete the reservoir boundary inside 2D area and add initial water level of the reservoir of 2D cells. Does the current version RAS can't work in this way?
Actually I'm a Chinese. Please ignore some grammar fault.

I struggle to get HEC-RAS 5.0.5 installed on my Win 10 Pro laptop. It only starts with the process, but then gives the message "InstallShield Wizard Completed. The wizard was interrupted before HEC-RAS 5.0.5 could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again. Click to finish"

Anybody else experienced this? Any recommendations to overcome the problem?

    Regards
    Andre
